About Rachel
Rachel Silva graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelors degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and is currently working full time for a small biotech startup working on developing novel monoclonal antibodies.
She started dancing when she was 4 years old, trained in various styles as a competitive dancer throughout her teenage years, and went on to dance at the collegiate level for the URI Ramettes. After graduating college, Rachel took a few years away from dance but ultimately found her way back to it through the dance heels community in Boston.
Rachel started working out and doing yoga to compliment her dance training in high school and college, but if she’s being honest, the start of her fitness journey was fueled by a feeling of never being “good enough”, awful body image issues, and an unhealthy desire to be the smallest version of herself. Since then, she has learned to shift her mindset to one of self-love, and in an effort to become the STRONGEST version of herself, her passion for fitness and yoga grew.
In 2020, she received her RYS-200 yoga teacher certification and since then has taught vinyasa, restorative, and slow flow yoga classes at VIM Fitness and Boston Dance Studios. Rachel received her personal trainer certification in 2021 and has spent time working as a personal trainer at Lifetime Fitness. However, she attributes most of her knowledge and experience in the fitness industry through her own bodybuilding journey and many years spent working with a coach herself.
Now, Rachel is based in Central Jersey and is determined to create the type of community that helped her find her spark back through dance and fitness.
Rachel’s passion for her work stems from the way her strength training, dance, and yoga practices all compliment one another. They encourage the expression of both strength and beauty, power and grace, structure and creativity, masculinity and femininity. She has found the key to truly loving and being comfortable in her body, to graciously taking care of herself physically and mentally, and to creating balance in her life.
